Clinical Supervisor Regulatory Compliance & Patient Safety- Hampton Roads Shared Services

Provides Supervision & Management of Regulatory Compliance and Patient Safety. Serves as a practice-based support in assuring ongoing regulatory preparedness, compliance and patient safety being met across the Hampton Roads market. Serves as a resource to Bon Secours Hampton Roads Medical Group (The Medical Group) in the interpretation/understanding, analysis and remediation of Joint Commission (JC) indicators and other regulatory requirements. Responsible for managing patient safety activities and events submitted in Safecare while working closely with risk management to enhance and promote patient safety and quality care.

Essential Functions:

  • Works collaboratively with Administrative Directors, Practice Managers, and Medical Home team and clinical educators to assure knowledge transfer and process consistency as appropriate with regulatory bodies. This includes Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission(TJC), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) and any other identified regulatory entity.
  • Oversees overall survey preparation, identifies deficiencies, makes recommendations to comply with standards, and follows up to make sure those recommendations were implemented.
  • Manages Safecare submitted events daily and works closely with risk management to implement changes in work systems to correct system and process vulnerabilities and monitor the effectiveness of solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensures patient safety by following-up and acting on all regulatory recommendations/deficiencies.
  • Conducts semi-annual Environment of Care (EOC) rounds at non-provider-based billing practices to identify environmental opportunities, hazards and unsafe practices associated with safety and fire, hazardous waste, medical equipment and infection control.
  • Maintains current knowledge on regulatory agencies and updates Medical Group on critical factors and changes.
  • Directs and performs technical duties of coordinating, preparing, and assessing, reporting and evaluating facility practice in regard to standard compliance.
  • Designs and leads support staff and managers in implementing plans of corrective action to remediate or improve deficiencies.
  • Assists in the identification and implementation of strategies for improvement.
  • Assists in the development of evidence-based practice to comply with TJC and National Patient Safety Initiatives
  • Maintains practice dashboards of up-to-date compliance activities within the Medical Group.
  • Identifies and communicates regulatory requirements related to patient safety activities.

Required Minimum Education:

  • 2 Year/ Associates Degree
  • Preferred: Bachelors Degree

Specialty/Major:

  • Health Services Administration, nursing, management, business administration

Certification:

  • Virginia LPN License

Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years experience in a healthcare setting with extensive knowledge of joint commision standards and health regulatory requirements
  • 1 to 3 years of management or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge in Provider Based Billing, 340B Drug Discount Program and Rural Health Clinic Services. Knowledge of EMR Applications, particularly Epic, JC Resources Survey and Tracer Tool, MS Excel, Web-based tools.
