Are you a Registered Respiratory Therapist with experience in adult, pediatric and neonatal units? Do you have at least 3 years of experience? Are you interested in broadening your scope of practice?

Bon Secours Ground Critical Care Transport Team is looking for you! Our team is composed of Respiratory Therapists, Registered Nurses, Paramedics and EMTs. We provide care during interfacility ambulance transport for Adults, Pediatrics, High-Risk Obstetrical and NICU patients in the Central Virginia region. With actively engaged medical directors, the program offers Respiratory Therapists unique opportunities and training in airway management including video laryngoscopy with intubation, transport care of complex adult and pediatric ICU patients and patients with cardiac devices including EMCO, Impella and IABPs. We provide our patients with a variety of inhaled gases including Nitric Oxide, and Heliox and utilize state of the art transport ventilators. We offer a thorough orientation and the opportunity to work in a small cohesive team atmosphere. 

I. PRIMARY FUNCTION/GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Primary function within Department Policies \ Procedures and Standards of Care, reviews patient data, makes assessment of patient's respiratory status, assembles necessary equipment and checks for proper functioning, and administers prescribed therapies as ordered. Monitors patient's response to such therapies and makes recommendations to change or modify based on the assessment. Documents all treatments and therapies provided as required. Performs diagnostic testing for Arterial Blood Gases and Co-oximetry. Performs patient and family education and instructions in order to allay apprehensions and elicit cooperation necessary for attainment of goals and therapies. Ability to perform General Therapy in Non-Critical Care Patients served by the facility. Participates in on-call rotations as required by departmental policies.

II. EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Requires knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pulmonary physics, pulmonary pathophysiology, advanced respiratory care, mathematics, blood gas chemistry, pharmacology at a level generally acquired through completion of AMA approved therapist program, technician program in a hospital Respiratory Care Department.

2. Work requires comprehensive knowledge of all department policies, procedures, systems, and equipment as well as proficiency in performing clinical treatments at a level generally acquired during two-year Respiratory Care Program or enrollment in a program.

3. Must maintain current CPR certification.

4. Must maintain current Virginia Respiratory Care Licensure.

5. Demonstrated clinical competency in the care of patients receiving General Non- Critical Care Respiratory Therapy. Such clinical competency can be validated through completion of

Clinical Ladder and facility specific competency requirements.
