The Bon Secours Mercy Health Internship Program is a paid 10-12 week, immersive program that will expose students to the healthcare industry while also giving them the skills and experience needed to build a future career. The program also features additional opportunities for mentorship, networking, career & professional development, community service, job shadowing, and exposure to senior and executive leaders. The intern will work under the direction of Mercy Health leadership by assisting the Foundation/Fundraising team with special projects.

Location: Home Office in Cincinnati, OH (other locations may be available)

Dates: Monday, May 18th, 2020 - Friday, August 7th, 2020

Hours: 40 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks

Foundation – The Foundation team is the fundraising arm for Mercy Health and is responsible for raising money for various projects, program, and capital needs across the entire hospital system. The intern will help reconcile the various foundation data to ensure the foundation is up to date and compliant. The intern will work on data integrity for the Raiser's Edge Fundraising/Donor Database and the Financial Edge Software implementation. Responsibilities include:

Data & Grant Compliance

  • Audit and update the Foundations internal databases (Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge), to ensure accurate demographics
  • Assist with data entry, clean up, and auditing of existing grant records and donor information and within the Raiser's Edge Fundraising & Donor Database
  • Update Raiser's Edge, Financial Edge and Grant making
  • Support fundraising and donor events
  • Assist in table clean-up for outdated table values
  • Create and update policies and procedures
  • Verify reimbursements have been received and updating records

Fundraising

  • Support upcoming capital campaign activities.
  • Assist with fundraising event support                                          
  • Support implementation of various fundraising communication strategies
  • Assist with creating a sustainable fundraising event specific to Clermont Hospital. Assist with other fundraising events as needed in other markets
  • Assist with rolling out the Foundation communication strategy for both Anderson and Clermont Hospital
  • Assist with compiling prospective donor lists for the upcoming capital campaign at Anderson Hospital

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Data Science, Data Mining, Finance/Accounting, Economics, Marketing, Communications, Healthcare Administration, or an Analytical/Statistics/Mathematical related degree
  • Preference for Junior/Senior
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong service orientation
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and sense of accountability
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite – specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be self-motivated, capable of taking initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing priorities, and effectively manage deadlines
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and have strong rapport with the leaders and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong time management and organization skills
