POSITION SUMMARY

The Housekeeper is expected to deliver a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility, ensuring a clean and inviting environment for guests, residents, and co-workers.  Although Housekeepers may be assigned certain tasks to meet the needs of the housekeeping department, the organization will provide cross training, so that every Housekeeper is able to perform all duties and responsibilities listed below.  

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The employee reports to the Manager Environmental Services and will also have a dotted line reporting relationship with the Environmental Services Supervisor, when the Manager is off duty.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean overnight rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas;
  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers;
  • Maintain neat, clean, and properly labeled cart, equipment, storage rooms, and supplies;
  • Use and maintain commercial laundry facility:

    Maintain a working knowledge of the general operation of the washer, dryer and press;

    Maintain knowledge of the various chemicals associated with the housekeeping department;

    Maintain a neat and clean laundry room free of debris and unnecessary items; 

    Correctly gather and sort linen by type;

    Wash and dry linen according to linen type and associated cycles, times, and temperatures as designated;

    Ability to identify stains and properly treat with stain removing chemicals;

    Fold linen in an expert and timely fashion;

  • Assist in conference room setup;
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, which includes:  using all cleaning supplies as intended and listed on MSDS and using necessary personal protective equipment (ppe) as listed on MSDS and safety labels;
  • Document any deficiencies, including mechanical and electrical problems from the guest’s rooms or public spaces, and report to the Manager;
  • Label and submit all lost and found items to the Manager immediately;
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Required Qualifications

  • High School degree or GED;
  • Ability to work independently, while referring any unusual circumstances to the Housekeeping Supervisor;
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance;
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable attitude towards guests and staff;
    • Provide guests with a lasting experience of the Center, with intent for return business;
  • Respect all facility equipment and property and use with care to avoid unnecessary damage;
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn and understand, safety procedures:
    • Reporting all safety hazards and suspicious activity to direct supervisor;
    • Learning their role, and carrying it out, in any emergency event; 
  • Ability to understand the different functions performed in all RCC Operations departments, as well as interdepartmental communication between foodservice, maintenance, housekeeping, guest services and grounds;
