for physicians & nurses

There are thousands of reasons to choose Bon Secours Health System, and you will see them in the faces of the caring, compassionate doctors, nurses, clinicians and other staff who make Good Help to Those in Need® their number-one priority every day.

Bon Secours is in the midst of a transformation to create a system of caregivers committed to sharing best practices and replicating our success stories system-wide. The religious motivation at the core of our existence is based on the founding Sisters of Bon Secours in accordance with directives and policies of the Catholic health ministries.

Clinical Transformation
Transformation is occurring from the inside out with doctors and nurses leading the design for future models of care. Contrary to the old belief that Margin drives Mission, our success establishes the opposite: No Mission, No Margin. We will be financially successful because we will deliver better care. This right thinking, ultimately, has paved the way for Clinical Transformation, an initiative launched in 2008 as part of the Strategic Quality Plan, which set into motion a process and journey to respond to the ever-changing landscape of health care delivery. The new leadership model, which created a Joint Clinical Collaborative and "Learning Communities" guided by nurse and physician leaders, supports the work of health care providers at every level of the system to transform care.

Today, clinical and financial leaders system-wide collaborate to drive improvements in patient care at the point of care. Our efforts are working to reduce hospital-acquired infections and pressure ulcers, unwanted variations in care and "never" and "no-pay" events. We have also improved clinical outcomes for mothers, babies, orthopedic surgery patients, cardiovascular surgery patients, and seniors across all care settings.

Center for Clinical Excellence and Magnet
At the heart of Clinical Transformation is the Center for Clinical Excellence, which brings together leaders across the health system to set strategy and direction for practice and patient care. Here current practices may be challenged as evidence is brought forth to support change with the ultimate goal being world-class care and delivery.

Nursing practice defines a core competency of our work. Two facilities have gained Magnet status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center — a designation that only five percent of hospitals nationwide have achieved. These facilities will help lead Bon Secours to new standards of excellence as they assist other facilities on their Magnet journey.

Electronic Medical Records: ConnectCare
This state-of-the-art clinical information system is much more than an electronic health record. ConnectCare is critical to how we will deliver care to patients in the future and how we will improve quality outcomes. Our aim is to eliminate preventable deaths, achieve compliance with evidence-based standards, increase patient engagement, and achieve revenue and return-on-investment targets.
