Warwick
Historic homesteads and rural farmland grace the countryside of Warwick, located in southwestern Orange County. The Town of Warwick includes the three villages of Warwick, Florida and Greenwood Park. Rich in history and natural charm, Warwick has many public and privately supported parks, museums and galleries. The rural town, just 55 miles northwest of New York City, is touted as "a perfect place to spend a day or a lifetime."
During the winter months, popular sports in and around the area include snow skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. A short trip over the New Jersey line leads to Mountain Creek Resort, the region’s only All Mountain Terrain Park, open year round and featuring a water park open from June through September. Nearby Greenwood Lake offers just about every water sport imaginable – swimming, diving, fishing, water skiing, jet skiing and boating by sail, canoe, kayak, paddle, motor, row and skull. Serious hikers take the Appalachian Trail to get away from it all, while their sedentary counterparts enjoy vistas — including brilliant displays of fall foliage — from just about anywhere. The annual Applefest craft fair and bazaar, held the first Sunday in October, attracts 30,000 people from around the country. Since its first appearance in 1988, Applefest has been selected as one of the top ten festivals in the "Top 100 Events in North America" by the American Bus Association attracting up to 30,000 people each year.
